INFINITI launched the G35 compact premium sport coupe and sedan for 2003 as a value-priced BMW 3 series competitor. After BMW split off its 3 series coupes into the new 4 series, INFINITI followed suit, renaming its sedan version Q50 and the two-door coupe Q60 for the 2014 model year. The redesigned 2017 Q60 now has a stiffer suspension than its sedan sibling and comes with three engine choices. The handsome Q60 also features INFINITIs signature C-pillar shape, its version of BMWs Hofmeister kink, which can be credited to the Nissan/INFINITI design chief as the Nakamura kink. While the second-generation Q60 retains its front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, it is a new model for 2017, with an all-new body and interior. Its base, 2.0-liter turbocharged four is now sourced from Mercedes-Benz, which also contributed to the design of its optional 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6. INFINITI calls this engine its most advanced design ever, with direct-injection, lightweight aluminum engine block and cylinder heads, and optimized turbine blade design. Also for 2017, the multi-link suspension has been retuned and the shocks repositioned for less noise, vibration and harshness, and sharper handling response. The Q60s suspension stands out in this segment for placing luxurious ride over potentially jarring stiffness, though the tighter suspension in the Q60 coupe provides a more buttoned-down cornering experience than the Q50 sedan. The Q60 comes with INFINITI's latest InTuition touchscreen infotainment system, with faster processing and wider personalization choices. Standard equipment include Bluetooth connectivity, two USB ports, and a six-speaker stereo with satellite radio. Higher trims bring additional features like navigation and a 13-speaker Bose Performance surround-sound audio system. The 2017 INFINITI Q60 is all about the looks, and they're worth every penny.
