2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid gains standard BlueLink, the safety, service and infotainment telematics system. This one comes with two optional packages that were available. First, the Leather Package bundles leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Ultimate package starts with everything from the Leather Package and adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a touchscreen navigation system, a rearview camera and a nine-speaker Infinity sound system with HD radio.
The updates for the 2013 model are significant. Hyundai installed a lithium-polymer battery thats 38 percent larger and more energy dense than before. The hybrid control system was reprogrammed to allow it to dip deeper into the batterys charge before switching over to the gas engine, thereby spending more time in HEV electric-only mode. The combined 199 hp generated by the gas and electric motors in tandem is a bit lower than last years 206 hp, but the torque, which is what really gets the car moving, is up an impressive 40 pounds-feet to 235 pounds-feet.
All hybrid components also receive a lifetime warranty. This Hyundai Sonata gets terrific gas mileage, 36 mpg city and 40 mpg on the highway. It has sharp steering, a comfortable ride, an attractive cabin layout and numerous available features. Unlike most of the competition, which uses belts to drive the camshafts, the Sonata engine has internal chains for the single overhead cam, eliminating the need for periodic replacement of the timing belt.
