Gateway Classic Cars St. Louis is proud to digitally present this Beastly Dodge Challenger SRT8/392!In the 1970s the Mopars were a terror to the other pony cars on the streets. Although the Challenger was a late response to the Ford Mustang (1964), Dodge in the fall of 69 had a plan to release the most potent pony car ever. Positioned to compete against the Mercury Cougar and Pontiac Firebird in the upper end of the pony car market segment. The Dodge Challenger was available in a staggering number of trim and option levels, and with virtually every engine in Chryslers inventory.Fast forward to the Challengers 3rd generation and its just like the 70s came back with more! Still the with the classics body style that mirrored the 1st gen models, in 2011 dodge added some wow features to its SRT8. A new 6.4-liter Hemi V8 was added, which rated the 392 at 470 hp; Dodge engineers stated they sacrificed peak horsepower ratings for low-end torque, stating a 90 lbft.
