Seller's Comments
*2001 BMW Z8*® The late 1990s and early 2000s saw a resurgence of retro styling, with brands evoking cars of their earlier days. This was done with varying degrees of success but it should come as no surprise that BMW hit it out of the park. Penned by designer Henrik Fisker, the car debut as the Z07 concept, before going on sale as the Z8 almost unchanged. Harkening back to the ultra-rare BMW 507 from the 1950s, the Z8 had stunning classic lines, that were updated to look fresh in the modern era. This 2001 BMW Z8 shows 26,211 miles and is finished in the perfect color combination of Titanium Silver over a Red and Black Nappa leather interior.® Sold new at BMW of Tucson on 10/26/2001, this BMW was purchased through the companyâs CPO program by the consignor, who has owned it since 4/2005 when it had 18,000 miles on it. Although these are most frequently seen driving around with the top down, all Z8s were shipped with a removable hardtop and stand, which this car has, meaning that you can enjoy driving it year round. One thing about the Z8 that is particularly unique and rarely discussed is the lighting around the car. With HID headlamps up front, the side marker indicators â which are set within a beautiful side grille â are fiber optic, while the taillights are neon.® The beautiful 5-spoke wheels are simple in their design but quite beautiful, and at a diameter of 18-inches, finding modern tires is no issue.® The red and black two-tone interior is really the inside to have on this car, and is what the original concept was shown with. The unique 3-spoke steering wheel is known as a âbanjoâ style thanks to the individual tines which make up each of the spokes. Sit in the driverâs seat and you have an unobstructed view out the windshields, as the gauge cluster is offset in the center of the dashboard. Contrasting with the red and black leather throughout the cabin is silver, body-color painted pieces on the center console and dashboard.® Powering the Z8 is BMWâs legendary S62 V8. Better known as the powerplant found in the E39 M5, this BMW Motorsport engine features 8 individual throttle bodies, dual overhead cams and double VANOS variable valve timing. What this means is 394 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, which is sent through a 6-speed Getrag gearbox to the rear wheels. This engine is famous for making the E39 M5 one of the all-time great sport sedans, so imagine how thrilling it is in a car that weighs more than 400 lbs less than the sedan. Acceleration is rapid with 0-60 happening in the low-4 second range and the top speed is limited to 155 mph. An annual service has been done to prepare the car for sale.® There are lots of cars that people claim to be âinstant classicsâ but itâs pretty rare that it actually pans out as true. But if there is one car that can make that claim and back it up, it is the BMW Z8. From the time these cars were new, they never really depreciated below their original MSRP and as time has progre
