Seller's Comments
The original Porsche Turbo Carrera revolutionized the automotive world upon its debut in 1974, establishing Porsche as a leader in the supercar arena. The 1991 second-generation Turbo, encased in the sleek Type 964 body, continued this legacy. Unlike many exotics, the Turbo 3.3 offers everyday drivability while delivering near-170 mph performance on open roads.
The Porsche 964 improved significantly over the preceding Carrera 3.2, with approximately 87 percent new parts. Notable updates include a reshaped nose and tail with smoothly molded thermoplastic bumper covers, a new front suspension system with coil springs and shocks replacing the traditional torsion bars, and retained trailing arms and torsion bars at the rear. The braking system remains among the best, featuring large cross-drilled and ventilated rotors.
The 964 Turbos M30/69 engine, displacing 3,299 cc, produces 320 hp at 5,750 rpm, aided by a larger intercooler for improved efficiency. The engine enhancements include stainless-steel head gaskets for better durability, a revised ignition system, and a metallic catalyst in the exhaust system. This powertrain made the Porsche Turbo 3.3 the fastest-accelerating production car of its time, capable of 0-60 mph in just over four seconds and a quarter mile in the 12s at 108 mph, as praised by Car & Driver.
This particular 964 Turbo, completed on March 27th, 1991, is among the last of 674 M-program units for the U.S. market. It features a Black Metallic exterior and a Light Grey leather interior. Optional equipment includes an electric sunroof, limited-slip differential, heated front seats, Porsche Classic Radio, and lumbar support for the front seats.
Now displaying just 14,191 miles on the odometer, this example remains in nearly new condition and includes the original owner's manual, warranty booklet, tool roll, spare, and a clean Colorado title.
