*1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet*® There is no doubt that the 1980s Porsche 911 - known as the âG-Bodyâ by fans of the brand - is one of the all-time classic 911s. Great to drive and built to last, these have become some of the go-to classics for people who want a vintage sports car that they know will start every single time they slide behind the wheel. In recent years, one factor that really separates 911s from this era is the color choice - in period, most cars were painted in red, white, black and silver, but finding one in a more adventurous shade can add significant value to a 911. This 1985 Carrera Cabriolet is finished in a unique color combination of Moss Green Metallic Over Black Leather, with a black cloth soft top. Sold new on February 28th 1985 at D-Patrick Imports in Evansville, Indiana, the car has been under the care of the consignor since purchasing the car here in 2009.® When this 911 was acquired by the consignor, it showed 94,447 miles and in the last 16 years, has seen the addition of just 19,865 or just over 1,200 miles per year. 1985 was the second year of the âCarreraâ which was an update on the 911 SC which had been on sale from 1978 to 1983. The deep metallic green paint on this car is in excellent condition and, as a 3.2 Carrera, is paired with black trim on the windows, rear grille and badging. Additionally, black center 16-inch Fuchs forged wheels are fitted with polished lips that are a hallmark feature of Porsche from this era.® From the factory, this car was optioned with black âfull leatherâ interior which means that in addition to the seats, the door cards and part of the dash are leather wrapped. The large 4-spoke steering wheel frames Porscheâs famous 5-gauge dashboard with a large central tachometer staring right back at you. This car was optioned with cruise control which makes it a great road trip vehicle, and a more modern Alpine head unit gives CD compatibility. As the 911 was a premium product in its day, it came standard with nice features like power windows, air conditioning and a leather wrapped steering wheel which are all present on this car.® Under the hood, the 911 Carrera is powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six engine that delivers 228 horsepower and 209 lb-ft of torque. These notoriously stout engines are a revised variant of the 3.0-liter unit in the 911 SC but the additional displacement, paired with a Bosch Motronic fuel injection system make them much smoother and more pleasant to use every day. This engine is then paired to a 915 5-speed transaxle which was in its final year of production for Porsche. The 915 had been around for decades and is preferred by many enthusiasts to the later G50 because of its light weight and positive feeling cable-actuated clutch. From behind the wheel, these Carreras are known for their lively and communicative steering feel and, although the power numbers donât sound hugely impressive today, these are light cars and offer plenty of performance.®
