Special thank you to all our customers for entrusting us to park the car of your dreams in your driveway while preserving automotive history for future generations to embrace and enjoy. -Grams family & Volo Museum staff Here is a body off frame restored Chevelle as a COPO tribute. That stands for Central Office Production Order, some people that knew enough could special order a 427 even though the 396 was the biggest motor offered. This is a faithful recreation from the correct L72 427-425hp to the period correct Stewart Warner gauges and even reproduction tires! EXTERIOR: This body is laser straight and it's smooth from the rockers to the roof. I don't see any damage or issues. Repainted beautiful Cortez Silver, it's laid out evenly and has a glossy clear coat finish. The black side stripes are painted on smooth to the touch. It appears as if every piece of chrome and trim was replaced. Up front the bumper, grille, lenses all look new. It has the Chevy bow tie emblem, remember it's not an SS, and it even has correct T3 headlamps. Down the sides of the car the marker lights, wheel well and rain gutter moldings, correct antenna, door handles, have all been replaced. The front and rear glass is new and so is the stainless trim around them. In back the taillights, moldings and bumper all look like new. They also replaced all the weatherstrips. This car is sitting on a set of Polyglass reproduction Goodyear tires and a pristine set of SS wheels. INTERIOR: It is restored just like 1969! Down on the floor is fresh carpet, reproduction mats, a complete set of GM seat belts and the best part is the Muncie shifter sticking out of the hump. In front of me is a beautifully restored dash. The dash pad, instrument panel, lenses, knobs, heater controls, vents, and steering wheel all look fantastic. It even has its original AM radio in place. Like many COPOs back in the day, they opted to put in Stewart Warner gauges under the dash. The seats are reupholstered, the chrome trim has been replaced around them too. The door panels, armrests, window cranks and handles have been replaced. Up above the headliner and visors were replaced. It has a working dome light, it's complete with shoulder belts and its original rear view mirror. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: 427-425 motor built to L72 specs. It's a ''512'' cast block, rectangular port heads, the matched GM aluminum Winters intake, a Holley 780 dual feed carb and stock exhaust manifolds. Inside is a roller cam and 11:1 compression. Correct chrome valve covers and air cleaner top it off. All the components look stock: The alternator, brackets, wiper motor, radiator, shroud etc. It features power steering and brakes with a cadmium plated booster. It's detailed with reproduction GM hoses and clamps, hood insulation, dust shields over the suspension and the squirters are hooked up. The metal surfaces are painted neatly. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is very clean and complete under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted glossy like the car. It's complete with reproduction decals new latch and weatherstrip. Inside is rock solid metal neatly spatter painted with a reproduction mat. It also has a spare and jack assembly to finish it out. UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame and it was restored to factory condition. It has the F-41 sport suspension which includes front and rear swaybars and boxed control arms in the back. All the steering and suspension was redone. It has disc brakes in front, the whole brake system was rebuilt. The lines were replaced and e-brake assembly is hooked up. It has the optional high-performance factory chambered exhaust complete with resonators in the tailpipes and the correct chrome cowbell tips. The fuel system was also completely replaced including the lines. Looking up at the motor It's all clean Chevy orange with a fact
