The very first variations of the 911 were produced between August 1964 to July 1967. Base model cars received a 2.0L Flat-6 producing 130hp and a Type 901 five-speed manual transmission a slightly more powerful 911 S was released in late 1966. This allowed for a 0-60 of around 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph. Luxury was of less concern than driving quality, but the cars could be equipped with a gas-fired heater, radio, and other items should buyers wish to spec their cars in a more grand touring style. While later models added power, comfort, and around-town drivability, critics and enthusiasts alike praise the 1965-1967 911s for their magnificent steering feel and pure dynamics. While the 356 was available as both a coupe and a cabriolet, the 911 was initially only available as a coupe. Naturally, many buyers yearned for an open top car. Unfortunately, US safety standards were rumored to prohibit the sale of full convertibles, so the company was forced to create an alternative. Their solution, the Targa was quite elegant: a fixed roll bar covered in brushed stainless steel provided rollover protection, while a removable center portion and a collapsible rear window created an open top feel. A glass rear window was optional and, after a few short years, became the only choice for targas. Therefore, early 'soft window' targas are especially desirable amongst enthusiasts not only for their rarity, but also their enhanced 'wind in your hair' experience. The superlative 1967 Porsche 911 'Soft Window' Targa featured here is finished in stunning Polo Red over a Black interior with a matching removable Targa top and folding rear window. This investment-grade Porsche is one of only 235 'soft window' Targas produced, making it one of the rarest and most sought after 911 body styles. Because of its rarity and exceptional condition, I personally believe the investment potential will grow beyond your imagination. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own the best at an investment price!
