*1965 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL*® The Mercedes SL has become one of the most coveted models of all time and its place in the history of the automobile has been cemented as the standard to which all other luxury sports cars are measured. Unveiled at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, the âW113â chassis was an all new look for the SL and was aimed more towards comfortable grand touring and everyday use - with an eye towards the US market. This 1965 230 SL is a prime example of the marque, and is a great driver, presented in Havana Brown over a Bamboo MB Tex interior.® Built in the era where Mercedes truly built cars to a higher standard, the 230 SL came with a host of standard convenience features including power steering, a Becker Europa AM/FM radio and power disc brakes. This Havana Brown example sits on a set of steel wheels with chrome and color-matched hub caps, which look fantastic with the brightwork found around the car. A brown convertible top is simple to use with manual operation, and a body-matched removable hardtop - which gave this generation its âPagodaâ nickname - is also included with the car. In 2017, the car received a full repaint in the original color, which was finished to a good standard.® The Bamboo MB Tex interior was reupholstered to factory specification around the time of the carâs paint job. With two comfortable bucket seats in front, and a small childâs seat behind them, the aim of the 230 SL was practicality, paired with comfort. A 3-spoke wood and metal Nardi steering wheel replaces the original plastic wheel, and frames a beautiful white-on-black gauge cluster, deeply inset into the dashboard. The dashboard and center console are finished in beautiful wood trim, and the quartz clock in the dash still works.® Under the hood sits a 2.3-liter inline-6 that breathes through a Bosch multi-port mechanical fuel injection system. Power from the factory was quoted at 150 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque, which is sent through Mercedesâs 4-speed automatic gearbox with fluid coupling. This engine is notoriously stout and was in production for more than 20 years, meaning there is still plenty of part supply and knowledgeable technicians to maintain them. In 2020, the car received a new stainless steel exhaust and was treated to an oil service before being offered for sale.® Just like when the model debuted nearly 65 years ago, the Pagoda SL represents a car built to truly exacting standards, which can be used as a nice-weather daily driver or the perfect vehicle for a weekend road trip. Presented in very nice driver quality condition, this 230 SL is ready to be enjoyed with the top down all summer long.® *Key Features* * Havana Brown Over Bamboo MB-Tex Interior * 2.3-Liter Inline 6 * 150 Horsepower/145 Lb-Ft of Torque * Bosch Multi-Point Mechanical Fuel Injection * 4-Speed Automatic Gearbox * Brown Cloth Soft Top w/Removable Color-Matched Hard Top * Full Repaint in 2017 * Reupholstered in 2017 * Becker Europa A
