The Buick Electra 225 Convertible was Buick's premier product for 1962. Buicks engineering and design departments were given free reign on its design for 1962. What came about was a car that was low, long and lean, a cleaner styling change from the bulkier cars of 1959 and 60. Buick's greatest engine of the time would be called upon to power the rolling art. The Wildcat 455, Buick's 401 Nailhead cubic inch V8 that boasted 325 horsepower from the factory. Buick transferred the power to its 3 link live rear axle via its Turbine Drive 2 speed automatic transmission which provided nearly seamless gear changes. The 1962 Buick Electra here comes to us from a private collection and is finished in Regal Black exterior paint over red vinyl interior. The car does feature its Wildcat 455 V8, 2 speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. Vehicle highlights included: power steering, power brakes, power top, power windows, power seat, interior trim decor, tissue dispenser, exterior trim decor, retro AM / FM radio, front and rear bench seats, stock original dash and gauges, original washer bottle, and a truck that can sneak as many friends as you dare into the local Drive-In Theater. The car features a older restoration that has held up well. The black exterior paint overall is deep and shiny with some minor expected flaws here and there, the exterior chrome stainless steel trim remains in excellent original condition. The interior remains overall very clean and tidy with attractive patina on the original pieces. Mechanically, the car runs and drives very good. The power top goes up and down as it should. The power windows do work, the driver master window switch does need some work to function, all other windows do work with their respective switches. The Electra 225 Convertible is an important car that was built for important people. With factory stats of a top speed of 115 MPH and 0-60 times from 10 - 11 seconds, it added punch to its elegance. These big iron Buicks of the early 60's remain very popular as they are easy to own, a pleasure to drive and make an excellent summer top down cruiser.
