The Samba Package on top of the Deluxe model brought 8 skylight windows and a canvas sunroof to make it a 23 window bus. This Type 2 exterior is finished in Mouse Gray and White with a Tan and Brown 2 tone interior. . Built on VW Beetle mechanics, all VW buses including this one feature a rear-mounted air cooled 4 cylinder engine tied to a 4-speed manual transmission both with approximately 4000 miles since the rebuild. The restoration was completed over a long period of time and the bus is owned by a prominent VW collector who has several other buses besides this one. As for the elephant in the room, anyone who follows the collector car market knows how much money these 23 Window buses have brought at auction. According to Hagerty, these early 21 and 23 Windows remain incredibly popular and highly valuable even with millennials, who make up 20% of VW bus buyers.
