It was not a direct competitor to the Corvette but with their similaritys it was very hard not to compare the 2. The Thunderbirds first model year was 1955 and outsold the Corvette by a substantial margin, like 23:1. Ford considered it a personal luxury car more than a sports car. The T-bird would see so many changes over the years, but the first generation holds a special place with collectors everywhere! This Baby Bird comes equipped with a 292cid V8 rated at 198hp @ 4400rpm from the factory. This 292 is backed by a 3-Speed Manual Transmission.
