Ford Flathead V-8 3-Speed Manual Transmission 12-Volt Electrical System Pertronix Electronic Ignition and Coil AM Radio 3-Row Seating Sliding Side Windows for the 3rd Row Seats Hydraulic Drum Brakes New Reproduction Firestone Wide Whitewall Tires This 1946 Ford Super Deluxe Woodie Wagon is a drivable classic that is ready to put smiles on all the passengers who climb aboard. Ongoing refurbishment began in 1997 when the previous owner embarked on a mission to make this rare car a reliable driver and a joy for all to see. The project continued over the next 20 years and encompassed many of the systems and components throughout the vehicle. Included was rebuilding of the flathead V-8, refinishing the black paint and the wood body panels, and retrimming the tan leather interior, and countless hours attending to many other details to complete the work. Equipment upgrades to enhance drivability and ease of maintenance include a 12-volt electrical system and a PerTronix electronic ignition and coil. The car was repainted in Mercedes-Benz black in 2011 by Anaheim Hills Auto Body in California. The wood framing and paneling was refurbished by The Wood N' Carr of Signal Hill, California earlier in the 2000s, at which time a section of the wood at the front right corner of the roof was replaced. The black vinyl top was replaced in 2006, and still looks excellent today. Exterior equipment includes a cowl vent, dual side mirrors, running boards, halogen headlamps, and red accents plus a chrome grille, bumpers, and trim. Body-color 16'' steel wheels fitted with hubcaps and trim rings are complete with brand new reproduction Firestone Wide Whitewall bias-ply tires measuring 6.00-16. A spare is housed in a body-color cover attached to the tailgate. The factory equipped suspension features front and rear transverse leaf springs, while braking is provided by hydraulically actuated front and rear drums. The spacious passenger compartment boasts three rows of bench seating with plenty of legroom in each row. The middle row seat was thoughtfully designed for its length to be a little shorter to make stepping through to the 3rd row a breeze. The gorgeous seats were reupholstered in pleated and perforated tan leather in 2006. Interior appointments include an AM radio, a clock, a heater, sun visors, vent windows, woodgrain-style dashboard trim, and replacement rubber floor mats. The steering wheel and the dashboard were refurbished in 2017. The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring to sound its authentic-sounding alerts. Surprisingly complete instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer along with gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, charge status, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just under 1k miles. The odometer was reset in 1999, and true mileage is unknown. The 239ci flathead V-8 was rebuilt in 1998 by Dan's Garage of Temecula, California. A 4 stroke Mercury crankshaft was installed at the same time, which brought the displacement up to 255ci. During the rebuild, stainless-steel valves were fitted along with replacement valve guides and hardened seats to make the engine durable while operating with modern pump gas.
