*1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible*The term âCustom Carâ can mean lots of different things. To some, a set of wheels and an exhaust makes their car custom, whereas for others, it doesnât qualify unless every aspect of the car from bumper to bumper has been modified and perfected. For traditional hot rodders Woodroe Parker and John DâAgostino, itâs the latter. DâAgostino has been an idea-man and promoter behind hundreds of hot rods since the 1960s which have won pretty much every award in the rodding world. Parker has a background in art and design, as well as a shared appreciation for California-style car builds. This â41 Cadillac combines their shared passions and was built as a tribute to Hollywood icons Clarke Gable and Carole Lombard, in celebration of their patriotism during World War II. The design was then brought to life by Oz Welch of Oz Kustoms - another highly respected name in the custom car scene and 2024 Builder of the Year award winner.® Taking over seven years to build, this Cadillac â known by its nickname âGable IIâ â started life as a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible, which was a California car from new. To start, the interior cabin area was shortened by 14 inches, giving the rear section a smoother shape and adding a waterfall between the rear bucket seats. The front header and glass from a 1947 Cadillac Convertible were installed, and up front, the hood was re-shaped to fit the grille and bumper from a â47, while the fenders were extensively modified to fit 1953 Eldorado headlight assemblies. In total, more than 500 inches of welding were carried out just in front of the windshield to ensure perfect panel gaps and overall fitment. The rear fender skirts on the car have been âcrownedâ adding an extra dimension to the shape, and their side profile was completely reshaped to follow the gorgeous flowing lines of the rear quarter panels; they were then countersunk into the body for a smooth fitment.® The rear of the car also utilizes pieces from a 1947 Cadillac including the bumper, which was reshaped to fit the different bodylines and make room for the 1953 Kaiser license plate frame and âbulletâ exhaust outlets. Around the vehicle, all panels were welded, with no seam sealer used to make everything flow perfectly, and the car was then painted in House of Kolor Candy Pearl Root Beer which was applied with a flawless finish. The taillamps were shaved, with custom lenses integrated into the rear bumper overriders. A custom Carson convertible top was fabricated, which was required given the significantly chopped roofline, which necessitated all new glass and a roadster-style windshield up front. The car sits on a set of True-Spoke Custom Supreme wheels from American Steel with 48-spoke centers, wrapped in proper wide whites.® On the inside, the original interior was restored to a concours level, with some very notable additions. The seats are all wrapped in Grey-Mauve mohair, which was installed
