The standard Ford continued to use the grille of the 1939 model with blackout on each side of the chrome center and bolder headlight surrounds were another telltale of the changes made from its predecessor. 1940 was the last year of the 1937 design and its smaller V8 engine, with an inline six-cylinder to be put back into production the following year. The 1937-1940 generation of Fords is one of the most popular automobiles for making custom hot rods out of and that still stands true to this day. Early stock car drivers also used the Ford of this era as one of the most recognized racers amongst all other models.
