My Jeep’s “check engine” light came on and then I - Steve
My Jeep’s “check engine” light came on and then I received a “hot engine” alert after driving a few miles. Local repair shop looked at it and said it needed to go to the dealer because the issue was computer-related. This morning I called Paul Bailey’s service department to schedule an appointment. The woman asked if I were an existing customer. I said no, that I just moved to RI a few months ago. She said that they would not service my Jeep because they are now only servicing existing customers due to being busy. This is no matter how far in the future I was willing to wait to have the car serviced. I was incredulous. I told her that I like Jeeps, that I will probably buy a new Jeep soon and that she just made sure that I would never, ever buy from that dealership. I guess it’s not illegal to discriminate on the basis of being new to the area and not being a pre-existing customer, but it sure is bad business. I’m going elsewhere for my next car.
